UK and Samui carriers to codeshare

17 Jun 2013

A Bangkok based airline has signed an agreement with British Airways to codeshare on flights from the UK to Koh Samui. The agreement with Bangkok Airways comes into effect in October and will allow UK holidaymakers to reach the beautiful beaches of Koh Samui with the minimum of fuss.

The codeshare enables travellers to buy combined tickets from London Heathrow to Bangkok or Singapore with through services to Samui. The UK national carrier flies twice daily from Heathrow to Singapore and once a day to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport.

With around 17 flights a day in each direction, Bangkok Airways’ connections from Suvarnabhumi to Samui are a good option. The carrier only offers one round-trip a day between Singapore and Samui.

Commenting on the forthcoming codeshare, Bangkok Airways vice president Peter Wiesner stated that it would provide BA’s passengers with a seamless transition for flights to Samui. He added that fliers would have access to a whole raft of facilities with bespoke service, delicious in-flight victuals and complimentary lounge access chief among them.

BA spokesperson Steve Ronald said Samui’s beaches would be that much easier to get to for European holidaymakers in October. He added that the upcoming transfer of Bangkok flight check-in and services to the modern, state-of-the-art Terminal Five at Heathrow would further streamline Far Eastern routes

The codeshare will also operate in conjunction with Bangkok Airways’ flights to the northern city of Chiang Mai as well as Phuket Island on the opposite side of the southern Thai peninsula. The 1Stop guide to Samui International Airport has more details about this award winning facility.
