Koh Samui transport
The airport of Koh Samui is privately owned by Bangkok Airways. The company has a monopoly on flights to Koh Samui (though Thai Airways and Firefly do operate limited flights) and charges accordingly. Hourly flights to and from Bangkok are upwards of 3,000 baht (one way).

There are airconditioned buses leaving daily from the Southern Bus Terminal (Morchit) in Bangkok to Koh Samui. Departure times: 06:45, 18:15, 18:45 and 19:15. Travel duration is about 12 hours.
Travellers can also reach Koh Samui by bus from Bangkok (loaded onto a ferry at Donsak). Bangkok-Koh Samui buses leave from the Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal several times a day. Southern Bus Terminal (Morchit), 50/2 Borommaratchachonnani Road, Tel: (02) 537 0291, Call center: 1490.
Sombat Tour operates bus services from Bangkok to Koh Samui daily at 07:30, 19:00 and 20:00. The bus arrives the next day in Koh Samui at 20:00, 08:00 and 09:00. Sombat Tour, Morchit Bus Terminal, Kampaengphet Road, Chatuchak, Tel: (02) 792 1456, Call Center: 1215.
Trains depart from Bangkok’s Hua Lamphong Railway Station every day from 08.05-22.50. The duration of the journey is about 13 hours. Hua Lamphong Railway Station, Tel: (02) 223 0341, (02) 220 4444, Hotline: 1690 (24 Hrs).
Surat Thani’s Phunphin Railway Station is 12 kilometres from town. A bus service between the station and the town is provided. Phunphin Railway Station, Tel: (077) 311 213, Hotline: 1690 (24 Hrs).
Ferries and boats
40 kms from the town of Surat Thani is Donsak Pier, from where Racha Ferry and Sea Trans Ferry provide services to Koh Samui several times a day, trip time 90 minutes.

Transport on Samui Island
Cars and motorcycles can be hired in any village on Koh Samui. Please bear in mind that the accident rate in Thailand is one of the world’s highest and therefore be extra warned and careful when driving on the island.
