Koh Samui Airport’s principal flight provider has announced a new promotional campaign that offers great discounts on return trips to and from Bangkok. The Samui Sabai offer by regional carrier Bangkok Airways runs from now until 15 July.

Train services to Samui disrupted

Southern rail services from Bangkok have been severely disrupted due to a goods train derailment on Saturday. The accident occurred in the Ron Phibun District of Nakhon Si Thammarat, which is just to the south of the main Koh Samui ferry piers in Surat Thani.

Government debating second airport for Samui

The Thai Transport Ministry is considering the establishment of a second airport on Koh Samui. The government’s transport minister, Jarupong Ruangsuwan, has asked the Airports of Thailand (AoT) to look for a suitable location on the Gulf of Thailand island and also investigate the feasibility of investing in and constructing a state operated airport there.

Boom in Samui accommodation rentals

A major accommodation rentals agency on Koh Samui says that it had a boom in bookings over the just finished peak tourism season. The letting agency, Samui Holiday Villa Rental, stated that reservations over the peak period as well as for the rest of the current year are the highest since 2009.

Bangkok Airways discounts Samui flights

Beginning tomorrow, the principal airline flying to Samui Island will be offering heavily discounted flights for a limited period. Passengers wishing to fly from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok or U-Tapao Airport in Pattaya can purchase Bangkok Airways return tickets for an all inclusive price of 4,900 Baht.
