Many items of antique-styled furniture are also available, especially those made from teak. Few household items catch the eye or hold the interest as much as a handcrafted piece of teak wood furniture. Teakwood chairs and tables have been made in Thailand for centuries and the same process is still used today by a small select group of master craftsmen. Using the same traditional methods used by their ancestors and often using recycled teak rather than felling new trees, they produce finished articles that are always unique. The wood, individually seasoned over the years, gives each piece an entire character of its own.

Teak chairs are usually available from around 10,000 baht, depending on the quality of the item. Tables and coffee tables start at around 20,000 baht, again dependent on quality and size. Beautiful World in Baan Tai on the north coast has a wide selection of furniture at very affordable prices.

Anyone who has visited some of the temples on the island will not have failed to notice the popularity of sculpture in Thai religion. Statues available for purchase are not just restricted to religious or mythical figures though; they also include historical icons as well as everyday people in dramatic scenes such as Muay Thai kickboxers or figures in traditional dance dress and poses.

Statues produced here are often made with metals such as bronze or copper, but are also produced using sandstone or wood. Many pieces tell a story of their own and often have a historical or mythical tale attached to them. With so many differing styles, materials and sizes, everyone should be able to find something to suit their tastes and their shelves.

Prices will vary drastically depending on material and size from a few hundred baht to tens of thousands. The shops around the OTOP place in south Chaweng are a good place to start looking.
