Koh Samui transport
Air
The airport of Koh Samui is privately owned by Bangkok Airways. The company has a monopoly on flights to Koh Samui and charges accordingly. Hourly flights to and from Bangkok cost 3, 500 Baht one way.

Bus
There is always the option to travel from Bangkok to Suratthani and to take local means of transport from there to Koh Samui. There are three different types of airconditioned buses leaving daily from the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok to Suratthani. Departure times for the VIP bus: 7pm and 7.30pm. For the blue Standard 1 Bus: 9am, 9.30am and 8pm. The orange Standard 2 Bus departs at 9.30am and 8.45pm.
Travellers can also reach Koh Samui by bus from Bangkok (loaded onto a ferry at Don Sak). Bangkok-Koh Samui buses leave from the Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal every day at 19.30. Travel duration is about 13 hours. The Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok is on Pinklao-Nakomchaisri Rd., Talingchan, tel: 4351199.
Songserm Rungrueang Co., Ltd. operates bus services from Bangkok to Samui daily at 5 p.m. The bus arrives the next day in Ko Samui at 11 a.m.
Rail
Trains depart from Bangkok’s Hua Lamphong Railway Station 10 times every day from 12 noon-10.50 p.m. The duration of the journey is about 13 hours. For more information please phone: 02 233 762, 02 247 788.
Surat Thani’s Phun Pin Railway Station is 12 kilometres from town. A bus service between the station and the town is provided. For information please phone: 0 77 311 213
Ferries and boats
40 Kilometers from the Town of Surat Thani is the Don Sak pier. From here Racha Ferry provides services to Koh Samui seven times every day. The ferry operates from 8.00am to 7pm. Surat Thani - Ko Samui. Songserm Rungrueang Co, Ltd provides express boat services from Suratthani to Koh Samui. The boats leave from Surat Thani every day at 8 am. Duration of the trip is two and a half hours. A nighttime boat leaves Ban Don pier (in Suratthani Town) at 11 pm every day. The journey to Koh Samui takes about six hours.

Transport on Samui Island
Cars and motorcycles can be hired in any village on Koh Samui. Please bear in mind that the accident rate in Thailand is one of the world’s highest and therefore be extra warned and careful when driving on the island.
Public transport, buses, tuk tuks and taxis are widely available on Koh Samui.
